He was purchased at a high figure by his present proprietor at the sale of Samuel Gardiner, Esq 's, Bendoora Park, Victoria, in IS7B, and was the highest- priced trotting stallion there sold. From the published pedigree of hit, sire it will be seen that he possesses the best trotting blood in the world. ■ ! He was bred by John Birkbeck, Esq., of Thrcnplaud Hall, near Skipfcon. He Was got by the ' Devonshire Trotting Bainbovr, by Agtu-'a Bivinbow, dam by Heart of Oak. Serenadar's dam by St. Bennett (for his perfdrrndncc, &c, See Book), granddam by the far-famed Norfolk -Phenomenon, which was lindoubtedly acknowledged to be the fastest trotting stallion England evor produced ; he was by th£ Norfolk Cob, for which J. ThtfttbaM, Esq., of Stockwell Surrey, gave 1000 guineas ; he was by Kirkby's Wildfire, who beat Mr Slade's celebmted black mare, over Sunbury Common, for 400 guineas. Serenader liimself was tho winner of the following prizes : — ln 1566, at Skipton, Yorkshire, first prize •as a yearling ; ISGB, silver medal at Skipton, first at .Kcighley, and first at Bingley ; in 1809, first "nt- Acct'itigton, first at Skipton, first at Keigliley, first at Bingley (nine competitors), first at Allerton (13 competitors), first at Driglington, also at Ad Walton; m IS7O, he took prizes at Queensbury, Halifax, Great Horton, Allerton, Keigliley, and Bingley; in 1871, at Keigliley and Skijjtfln j and in 1572, ot Skipton, Keigliley, and Binglej*, always beating numbers of the same class ; in 1873 lie took three prizes, including the great Yorkshire Trotting Stallion Prize, open to England, France, and America, for the stallion best calculated to improve the breed of trotting horses, held at Harrowgate (17 competing) , August 1 3th ;he there beat Mr Cowton's Lord (Stanley, winner of the Uoyal Prize, at Hull, in 1873 ; also first at Islington and Alexandra Park, held in London the same year. At Melbourne he was oxliibited three times, and took honors on each . occasion. SERENADER'S DOUBLE is limited to 4J approved mares at six guineas each. N.B. — Serenlder's Double was the winner as a two-year-old of a special prize at tho National Agricultural Show, Melbourne, in 1878. He is by Mr Canning's imported horse Dugdale, dam Gipsy, imported from Warrnanibool. He is thoroughly staunch and a sure foul getter, having served several of his owner's mares last season. He was acknowledged in Scotland by the greatest breeders to be one of tho purest Clydesdales that had left for many years. Bbklih Congress is a beautifjil bright bay, 4 years old, standing 17 hands, strong, active, good tempered, with great flat bone, splendid feet, and a perfect model of the breed. This splendid Clydesdale Stallion was bred by Mr Ralston, Calmore Stranraer, is four years old, and gained 2nd prize at the Strathflndrick Society's Show, and Ist prize at Stirling in 1877. fie was selected by the Strathenerick Society, and awarded their Premium of £100 to travel in the distriot that season. Tibbie by Robert Burns, out of Sussie. _ Lord Lyon gained a prize at the Highland Society's Show, in 18G9 ; the Banffshire premium, in 1872 ; the Forfarahire premium in 1873; and ia allowed to be the best breeding Stallion in Scotland at the present day. Lord Lyon's stock have always been Ist prize takers wherever exhibited. Hercules was noted as a prize taker, and firstclass breeding horse. Rob Boy was a famed i Stud Stallion. Some of his gets, including [ Blackleg, occupied eminent positions In the Show ring. Jean was the dam of several high priced colts and fillies. Victor gained Ist paize at Stranraer as a two-year-old ; Ist prize at Rhins District Show when three years old ; 2nd prize at Castle Douglas the following year; two first prizes at Gatehouse ; and in 1864, second prize at the Highland Society's Show at Stirling, He also gained a Silver Medal for being sire of the best young stock at Stranvaer in 18G5, and was afterwards sold at a higli figure to go abroad. Tibbie gained first prize at Stranraer in 1854, 1857, aud 1b59; Highland Society's first prize in 1860 ; and lirst prize at Strauraer with two of her orfspring, in 1801. Thia mare was dam of live prize Btallions. Sussie gained 16 first prizes, wish nearly as many znedals, and was never beat till 1864, by her daughter Tibbie, mentioned above. Lumloek, prize mare, gained iiisfc prize at the Highland Society's, and local yhows, till she was 15 years old. Terms— 7 guineas each mare, two or more the property of the same owner, 6 guineas. Mayes must be removed immediately on the receipt of notice of their being stinted, and all fees paid prior to removal. To prevent disappointment early application is necessary.
