The s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Helander, arrived here yesterday at 1.30 a.m. She left Ly ttelton on Thursday at 9 p.m. , arrived at Wellington on IViday at 10 p.m.; sailed again on Saturday at 10 p.m., and arrived here as .above. Experienced strong head •wind and heavy sea till arrival at Wellington, from thence to Cape Turnagain light head ■wind with a high sea, and then smooth water till arrival. The Cross had a fair passenger list and a full cargo, 90 tons of which was for this port, 60 tons for Gisborne, the balance being for Aticklarid. She also brought the prize bull "Riby Knight," three prize heifers, and a young Clydesdale entire, which were selected at the late Christchurch Show by Messrs "J. If." Williams and T. Bishop. Tlio Cross leaves for Poverty Bay and Auckland this afternoon at 3 o'clock, taking cattle and sheep for the latter port. The schooner Aeadia, Captain M'Donald, arrived here yesterday morning from Mercury Bay with a cai'go of sawn timber for Mr Robt. Holt. The Wairoa stenmers Minaia, Result, nnd Clyde steamed for Wairoa at an early hour yesterday morning, all three steamers having a fair qxiantity of cargo. The Clyde returned again in the afternoon. The b. 9. Mohaka steamed for Mohaka at an eai'ly hour yesterday morning with a full cargo. The steamers Fairy and Sir Donald left for the coast yesterdaj' to bring wool for the homeward-bound ships. The Union Company's s.s. Hawca is expected • from- Southron ports to-day. She brings tho Lingard Troupe with her, and a a full cargo, The Hiwca leaves again at 5 o'clock.
