The Mayor made a -statement with re-gard-to the apportionment and investment of the amount raised fortthe relief !of the sufferers by the late accident \n the Chaucer-road. Ifc was decided by the committee that Mrs Clark/ who had four children with the expectation ' of another ■ one shortly, should have' £265. Of that sum she desired that £40 should b|e paid for a section in the Victoria SpecialllSettlement. The remainder would be invested in the; purchase of a section w|th two houses in town, in one of which Mrs Clark would live and the other would be* let for her benefit.
