The proceedings in the Council to-day lasted only an hour and a quarter, and were of little interest. SUPREME COURT PROCEDURE. After formal business the AttorneyGeneral, replying to Mr P. A. Buckley, . said that the Government did not intend this session to introduce a measure dealing with the Supreme Court procedure. The Judges themselves had in the matter in hand, and they had already proceeded some way in the direction of reforms, especially with reference to expense. THK MAORI PRISONERS. Mr P. A. Buckley raised a question as to the legality of detaining the Maori prisoners, and asked when their release would take place. Mr Whitaker said they were imprisoned quite legally, and would be tried at the next sitting of the Supreme Court. The Council adjourned at 10 minutes to 4.
