RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. WAIPAWA.
Tuesday, 4th November,
(Before H. E. Kenney, Esq. , R.M.) BREACH OF RAILWAY BYE-LAWS.
Charles Shrub was charged with having committed a breach of the bye-laws for the regulation of New Zealand railways in attempting to enter a railway carriage when the train was in motion. Mr Towers, railway inspector, deposed that the defendant was in groat danger of being mutilated, if not killed, as he had missed his footing when witness seized him with difficulty and dragged him away. Defendant was fined 6s and costs.
Charles Nation was also charged with a breach of the railway bye-laws by committing a nuisance at the railway station. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 5s and costs. CIVIL CASES. Harcourt and Adair v. Lambert, — Claim for £10 0s 5d on a promissory note. Defendant did not appear and judgment went by default, with costs of Court 265, and plaintiff's expenses 255. Mullinder v. Mitchell.— Claim for £3 7a, for rent of a house at Waipawa. Judgment by default for plaintiff, with costs 10s. Lucas and Humphreys v. Stanley — Claim for £5 5s Bd, balance of account for builders' material. Defendant did not appear. Judgment by default, with costs of Court 20s, solicitor's fee 10s 6d, and plaintiff's expenses ss.
Four other cases were settled out of Court before hearing.
His Worship appointed a Court to be held on Friday, 21st instant, at 10.30 a.m.j at which Court Justices of the Peace will preside.
