The schooner Acadia arrived here on Thursday from Mercury Bay with a cargo of sawn timber consigned to Mr R. Holt. She left Mercury Bay on Sunday night with a light southerly breez*, which changed to east on Monday, and so continued till rounding the East Cape, from whence to Portland Island had the wind from the north-east, and from Portland Island to tho roadstead had fresh north-westerly wind. The s.s. Southern Cross was to leave Auskland for this port via CHsborne last night, aud may therefore be looked for on Monday morning*. She only goes as far South as Wellington this trip. The schooner Herald arrived here yesterday from Havelock, after a fine weather passage, with a cargo of red pine timber for building a railway shed. She left Havelock on Saturday night last, experienced northerly wind till through the Straits, and from thence light north-east breeze till arrival.

We were in error in yesterday's issue when •we stated that the Union Company granted free passages by tho steam launch Bella to sightseers going to tho Rotomahana.
