Sydney, Friday. V, The Government have introduced aT^ bill into the Legislative Assembly to amend the existing Land Acts. It hsa been read a first time. The cab-drivers' strike continues. , (Received at 3.30 o'clock this morning.) (retjter's telegrams.) Quebec, October 30. The political deadlock still continues. The Assembly has, however, voted supplies, and it is hoped that the differences will now be arranged. Atiiens, October 30. The Greek Frontier Commission is sitting weekly. Little progress is, however, being made, owing to the difficulty in arriving at an understanding. Calcutta, October 30. General Roberts has issued a proclamation announcing the abdication of Yakoob Khan, and stating that the -outrage on the residency has compelled the occupation by the British of Cabul and other parts of Afghanistan, pending a settlement of affairs. A permanent Government will be established after • consultation with the chief Sirdars.
