Sin,— " Ilibra," in reply to my letter re " weighbridge, 1 ' makes false, assertions by stating that there is a great difference between.. checking the weight of a few pounds of sugar- or meat., and that of a. load of coals. Now, sir, tlie ..case does not apply to a . few pounds of sugar or; meat, but to what is sold daily out of a store. Tho wholesale stores have their own weighing machines, and are selling all day by them, weighing sugar by the bag or ton ; the same with grain, weighing it by hundreds of sacks at one time. I should think if the seller is dishonest, the case applies to both in principle. '' Libra" gives his- attention to coals and coals only. Can ho prove in one single instance anything dove wrong ? If so let him come forward like an honest cnan and declare it. The whole thing is merely for annoyaiicd that lie brings the matter before the public, and I shoukVthinkhis time should be .better employed in engineering, or shovild he prefer coal dealing, better fur him to enter into the business.— l am,. &c, . .
