LONDON. July 25. The Chief Secretary for Ireland, in moving the second reading of the Irish University Bill, stated that it made provision the for establishment of scholarships and prizes. MELBOUKNE, Monday. Mr Pinlayson, many years in the Melbourne and Hobson Bay United Bailway Company, has been shot dead by an employee in the traffic department. The motive for the deed is unknown. SYDNEY, Monday. A meeting of delegates at "Waratah decided to abondon the "vend" scheme, owing to dissensions between the colliers.
