This' riatiohality business has various phases. Mr Pnelim Ochone, seeking work in the country, relates '"' iEgles," called at a bush cottage near AleJ&ndra, and asked a remarkably comely young womanif a hand was required. She directed him to a tree which, as she pointed out to him, her husband was grubbing. As he drew near he saw, to his astonishment, that the woodman was a ldvg& and anything but handsome African. Phelim — Where's the Boss ? Cornelius Nepos — I'm the Boss anyhow.
Phelim (wide-eyed)— Be jabors— and are ye the Boss 1 O;N. — Yes, Paddy. You go up to the hut, and have a pob of tea< I'll follow tarectly. Availing himself of the proffered hospitality, Phelim returned to the hut, and as his hostess prepared the steaming beverage he could not resist asking her how in the name of fortune, with her good looks, she came to marry a darkey. Mrs . Cornelius replied, "My sister did much worse." Phelim — And what might your sister have dove 1 Mrs Cornelius (with a sly glance at her guest) — Why, she married an Irishman ! And Phelim didn't wait for his tea.
