EXPECTED ARRIVALS.

Rotorua, Captain Tozer, arrived in the Bay on Saturday afternoon, and Avas tendered at once by the Bella for mails and passengers. She 'left Melbourne at 1 p.m. on the Bth, reached Hobarton 3.30 p.m. on the 10th ; sailed at 7.30 p.m. same day, and arrived at the Bluff at 11 a.m. on the llth ; ' sailed at 5 p.m., arriving at Port Chalmers at 8 a.m. on- the 15th ; sailed at 4.30 p.m. on the 16th, and arrived at Lyttelton at 11 a.m. on Thursday ; left at S p.m. same clay, and arrived in Wellington at noon on Friday ; left again at 7 p.m., arriving as above. She had heavy beam sea from Melbourne to the Bluff, and from Bluff to arrival had strong head wind. The Rotorua left for Sydney, via East coast ports, at 5 o'clock p.m. on Saturday. The s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Helander, arrived in the Bay yesterday at 3 o'clock p.m., and was at once boarded by the pilot and brought inside the port and moored at the outer wharf. She brings a large cargo for here, and leaves for the North to-morrow. Captain' Helander reports leaving Lyttelton on Friday, the 18th, at 10 a in., and arrived at Wellington next day at 5 a.m. ; sailed again at 5 p.m., arriving here as above. Experienced moderate weather from Lyttelton to Wellington ; from Wellington to Hat Point heavy son and strong N.E. wind, from thence till arrival heavy southerly gale, accompanied with hail and snow. Captain Helander also reports that the hills right up the coast are thickly covered with snow down to tho water's edge. The s;s. Clyde, Captain Petersen, returned from the Wairoa yesterday afternoon. - Upon .the departure of Captain Carey for England, to take charge of the Union Co.'s new steamer To Anau, the officers and crew of the s.s. Rotorua (through Mr M'lntosh, the chief oflicer) presented him with a purse of sovereigns as a mark of their esteem. The Union B.S. Company have now established an agoncy of their own in Auckland, under the 'management of Mr T. Henderson, jun. ; Messrs Henderson and Macfarlane were the former agents. The Union Company's s.s. Wanaka is due here to-morrow from Southern ports, and is advertised to leave samo day for Northern ports.
