March 25 — Tararua, s.s., for Wellington and Southern ports. Passengers — Miss Coleman, Mrs Richardson, Mrs Graham and family (4) ; Messrs Yuile, LeYoi, Pilcher, Belcher, Crosbie, Fuddes, Grant, Lewis, Brooks, Spear, Green, Shipp, Clark, Hill, Ogden, Fletcher, Gorman, Blythe, Cooper, and Bell ; and 25 original. March 25— Hawea, s.s., for Northern ports. Passengers — Mesdames Parker, Haines ; Misses Haines, Hanson ; Messrs Hedge, Canning, Vincent, Bethel, Ewen, Albert, Jfatima troupe (5) ; 5 steerage, and 20 original. March 26— Rangatira, s.s., for Wellington. Passengers— Mrs Hughes and. family; Messrs Robertson, White, Wheeler, Madden, Higgins ; 5 steerage, and 8 original.
The Union s.s. Tararua, Captain Sinclair, arrived in the bay early on Tuesday morning, .and Avas tendered at once by tlie Bella for •passengers, the Admiral taking her Napier cargo. The following is her report, kindly furnished us by Mr Birch, purser. The Tararua left Sydney on the 15th, at 1.30 p.m., and experienced strong head Avinds and lieavy head sea throughout tlie passage across to Auckland ; left Auckland on the 22nd, at 5 p.m., and arrived at Tauranga on tho 23rd, at 8 a.m. ; left again same day at 2.30 p.m., and arrived at Poverty Bay on the 24th, at 2 p.m. ; left same day at 6.30 p.m., and arrived off Napier on the 25th at 6 a.m. Experienced fine Aveather throughout the passage along the coast. The launch took tlie outward passengers off on Tuesday at noon, and the Tararua steamed South at once.
The Union s.s. Hawea, Captain Kennedy, arrived in the roadstead at 8.30 on Tuesday morning, after a good rim of 18 hours from Wellington. She left Port Chalmers at 5.10 ;p.m. on the 21st, arrived at Lyttelton at 9.30 •a.m. on the 22nd ; left at 9 p.m., and arrived •at Wellington at 1 p.m. on Sunday'; sailed at 2.30 p.m. on Monday, arriving as above. She experienced strong northerly winds to Wellington; from thence light southerly winds and thick Aveather. During the Hawea' s stay at Port Chalmers she Avas docked, and received a coat of anti-fouling composition on her' bottom. The Hawea took on board her passengers for the North, and left on Tuesday for Poverty Bay. Tlie schooner Atlantic arrived on Tuesday irom Lyttelton. She brings a full cargo of .colonial produce. Mr Claridge, late agent of the Union steamship Company at the port, has been '.transferred from here to the head office of tlie • company at Dunedin, Avhcre he Avill remain permanently. Mr Louis Watts has been appointed acting agent here for the present. The s.s. Rangatira, Captain Evans, ; arrived in the bay on Wednesday morning, and ■ herjpassengcrs brought on shore by tlie Bella. 'The Rangatira left again for the South on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The schooner Atlantic is turning her cargo out in first-class order.
The Sir Donald took off a load of shingle on Wednesday to the Mendoza. The s.s. Wanaka, Captain M'Gillivray, is due here to-day from Northern ports.
The Admiral discharged her cargo on Wednesday ex Tararua and Hawea.
