THE STEWART FAMILY.
These highly talented and popular artistes opened a farewell season last night in " Rainbow Revels " at the Theatre Royal, when they were greeted with an excellent house and a very warm reception. Mr Stewart was again most successful in his character imitations, and also as the deaf gardener, with the " inimitable trot, as the Frenchman, and the Irishman, in each of which he was loudly applauded. Miss Docy Stewart's . operatic selections wero most artistically rendered, and she gave an excellent exhibition of her powers as a tragic actress, whilst as a Yorkshire girl, and also as the "Jewel from the Emerald. Isle," she kept the house in roars of laughter. Miss Nellie, who has become a prinie*f avorite with Napier audiences, appeared again as the saucy Billy Tops, the page; as the Australian Belle, with the song from the opera of " GirofleGirofla," " See how it sparkles," which she sang in a most charming manner ; as Lotta Schmidt, with a most original song and dance ; as the Hon. Percy FitzDaddleton, and as Prince Prettipet, in which latter charge-, ter she sang the favorite song "Maid of *~ v Athens," wi,th guitar accompaniment/ giving, in response to an unanimous encore, the ever - welcome " Lullaby." Miss Maggie Stewart was also as successful as before in her round of characters, especially as Jessie M'Tavish, with the song " Caller Herrin," as Flirtina Flyaway, and as Prince Powderpuff, taking part with Miss Nellie in a very graceful song and dance, which was heartily encored. All the artists were in capital voice, and the entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. . The " Rainbow Revels " will be repeated tonight.
