HARBOR BOARD ELECTION.

Sir, — I trust that every elector having the interest >of Napier at heart, before settling his mind how to vote at the above election, will firat {determine, for himself what are the true answers to the subjoined querie&.andactin conformity with his judgment :— - Does anybody, doubt. pur freights and insurances /are not. the same now as at the commencement of the harbor works? Doe* anybody doubt that the Union Co.'s steamers were the cause of the Rangatira and ether small fry lowering the freights ? Does anybody, doubt the blunders of the Harbor BoarxTwere the cause of a ruinous harbor work .and a ruinous lawsuit 1 Does anybody doi^b^fc the p.s. Manaia is not employed dragging . (the few thousand pounds left) with a big rake down the channel, to be only thrown back again by the first N;E.: gale? Does anybody doubt but the new board will be left penniless ? Does anybody doubt there is a company formed to' make a town and harbor at West Clive ? Does anybody doubt that Kennedy and Sutton are not connected with-it? Does anybody doubt that Kennedy and Sutton did not ■vote v for the present works? Does anybody doubt that Kennedy and Sutton voted 1 against the breakwater 1 jj])6es anybody doubt but what Kennedy "and Sutton f ;;wpuld do it again? Does anybody doubt there will not be a harbor at the Kidnappers if Kennedy and Sutton are returned 1 Does anybody doubt that Stuart, Williams, and Robjohns do *not hold more property in Napier than itifty Kennedy's and Sutton's? Does any'body doubfcthat Sutton's whole property -and interest is not at West Clive ? Does anybody doubt if the breakwater men are not elected Napier is ruined ? Does anybody doubt that Mr Kennedy did not propose that £200 of the public money be given to Mr Carruthers for providing plans for harbor, to ruin the prospects of the" town? ' Ratepayers-be early at the poll and vote for the West Olive harbor candidates— Sutton, Kennedy, and Smith. Those that are in favor of a breakwater be early at the poll and vote for Stuart, Robjohns, and Williams. Public apathy on this occasion may lead to serious consequences. The important fact remains to be impressed on the electors that of the four members to be returned by the two County Councils, . the two that the Waipawa Council is credited with selecting are .^Messrs. Ormond and .Newman; and the TJBEawke's Bay Council, Messrs. J. N. and. Kinross. To strengthen the hands of these determined opponents of Napier would be suicidal. —l am, &c, Vindex.
