Tuesday, January 7. The Grand Lodge was called to order by the G.W.C.T. at 9 o'clock. Resolved, thatP.G. W. 0. T. be empowered to correct an erroneous article which appeared in the Telegraph on Monday, January 6th, as a report of the Grand Lodge. Part of the report of the committee on the alterations in the Constitution was adopted, with a few amendments. A telegram was read from the Grand Secretary, Bro. Baker, New South Wales, as follows : — " Executive send fraternal greetings. Heaven prosper your rapid progress there ;" and was received with hearty applause. At. the afternoon session the election of officers was postponed until the evening session. . The consideration of the report of the committee on the Constitution was continued. The minimum amount of quarterly fees was fixed at Is 6d for. males, and Is for females. The degree fee was raised from Is to 2s. Clearance and travelling card fee was raised to Is. After sundry alterations, the Lodge adjourned at 5.30 p.m. Lodge resumed at 7 p.m., Bro. Fox, G.W.C.T. in the chair. The report of the Finance Committee was considered. The first clause was with reference to the appointment of a lecturer. Bros, Speight, • Johnson, Phillips, Pirani, Hutchens, Hoskins, M'Gregor, Neill, and Higgs strongly supported the appointment of a lecturer, all urging the necessity of such an officer. A motion was carried to the effect that the Executive find out the support Subordinate Lodges would give. Over £30 was promised in the room. The item " Grand Secretary's salary," was fixed at iJIOO for the ensuing year. Bro. Speight proposed and Bro. W. Johnson seconded, that Bro. Fox be reelected G.W.C.T., for the ensuing year. - Carried 'unanimously. Bro. W. Johnson (Wellington) was elected G.W. Counsellor, unopposed. Bro. Jacques (Christchurch) was elected G/W.V.T. Bro. Speight was elected G.W. Secretary unopposed. Bro. Phillips was elected G.W. Chaplain. Bro. Ellis was elected G.M., after a hard contest. The office of District Deputy G.W.C.T. was abolished, on a division. It was resolved to install the officers on this (Wednesday) afternoon. Resolved unanimously, that the jurisdiction of this Grand Lodge be extended all over New Zealand at once. Resolved, that arrangements be made for holding a special session of the Grand Lodge, for the purpose of conferring the Grand Lodge degrees at Christchurch, Wanganui, and such other places as the Executive may deem fit, as soon as possible. I Bro. Fox stated that he would go down to Ohristchurch himself, with Bro. Speight, G.W. Secretary, about the end j of February. Resolved, that the next session of this Lodge be held at the Thames, subject to the usual conditions; failing there, at New Plymouth. The Grand Lodge adjourned at 11.15, until 9 a.m. the following (this) morning.
