The only construction toj^^^H put upon that is " Your Own " stated which was not the truth. But I ] H^^| state, as I did before, that I for one k^^^^| nothing of such meeting. to be an untruth teller, knowing that it is possible for the majority to know of certain things when a few by chance may not J6 the least be aware of the fact. Having given the above statement, which "A Correspondent" may or may not believe, I have nothing further to say upon the subject. In reference to another subject which "A Correspondent" speaks of — the suggestion of Mr Ormond re guarantee — I was referring to Mr Ormond's visit in February last, and his remarks at that time. I understand, with respect to the blacksmith, that Mr Downey's successor will he Mr Elmbranch, f rom Danevirk. The building for the purpose will be near the hotel. The accommodation house is still closed, but accommodation is now obtainable in the house erected by Mr J. Parminter, which is about to be enlarged for that purpose. The weather is mild and very showery.
