Holmes, "brought up in the roadstead at a late hour on Monday night. She left Auckland at 2.30 on Saturday last, but had to take shelter under Rangitoto till 8 o'clock in the evening, owing to bad weather. Resumed her course, and had fine weather till arrival at 10 p.m. on Monday. She came inside on the tide yesterday morning and discharged her cargo, and during the afternoon took in a large cargo of wool for Lyttelton, for which port she leaves at 9 o'clock this morning. The a.s. Rangatira, Captain Evans, had not shown up at dusk last evening, but she would no doubt have arrived in the roadstead during the night. No communication will be held until this morning, when she will be brought to the breastwork. She leaves for Poverty Bay at 11 a.m. to-morrow. The brigantine Endeavor, Captain Dick, left Oamaru on Sunday morning, the 28th ultimo, and had a fresh S.W. wind to Akaroa ; afterwards heavy N.W. gales, which lasted 24 hours ; and thence S.W. wind to Flat Point. Strong N.E. up to Cape Kidnappers, with very heavy sea breaking towards the coast ; hail from Cape Kidnappers S. winds to arrival in Napier roads at 9 o'clock on Monday evening. She was brought to the breastwork yesterday, but did not commence unloading on account of the bad weather. She brings a full cargo of colonial produce. The s.s. Fairy, Captain John Campbell, will leave for Whangawei this evening, with a full general cargo. The s.s. Taupo, Captain Andrews, will leave Wellington this afternoon for Napier, and will arrive here to-morrow. She leaves for Poverty Bay, Tauranga, and Auckland at 4 p.m. on Thursday evening. The s.s. Mohaka, Captain Baxter, will probably get away for Wairoa this evening.
