SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

OXGA ONGA. At the meeting of the Onga Onga School Committee, held last Tuesday evening, there were present Messrs H. H. Bridge, J. Bain, J. Glenny, L. P. Coles, M. McLennon, and J. M. Newman. Mr Bridge was elected chairman for the current year. The Chairman assured the committee that they would find him no drone, but a good working bee. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read, The committee nominated Messrs H. Bridge and R. Harding for election to the Education Board. The committee then adjourned to Tuesday next, at noon. OKMONDVILLB. Th« Ownondville School Committee met pursuant to notice on Tuesday, the 19th instant. Mr H. Smith having been voted to the chair, The committee proceeded to the business of nominating two members for the Education Board. Mr J. D. Ormond, the Rev Robert Fraser, and Mr Rechab Harding were proposed. The voting was as follows : — Ormond, 6 ; Fraser, 5 ; Harding, 1. Mr Ormond and the Rev R. Fraser were accordingly nominated. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting. MAKAHETU. A meeting of the Makaretu School Committee was held on Tuesday evening, as appointed by the Education BoarcT Present— Messrs W. Thomson (chairman), JST. Loye, E. Tucker, N. Neilson, and H. Anderson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confh-med. Written communications were received from Miss Herbert, the Rev. R. Fraser and Colonel Lambert, consenting to serve as members of the Education Board. On a ballot being taken, Miss Herbert and the Rev. R. Fraser were nominated. On the motion of Mr Loye, seconded by Mr Tucker, it was unanimously resolved that the compulsory clause be brought into force in this school district. It was also resolved that the clerk communicate with the Secretary to the Education Board regarding books, &c, for school purposes.

PETANE. At the meeting of the Petane School Committee, held on the 19th inst., all the members were present. On the motion of Mr Stephen, seconded by Mr Tuxford, Mr Spence was unanimously elected chairman. Mr Twigg moved, " That the chairman be requested to .ascertain the amount of money required to put the Petane schoolhouse in thorough repair, and to make application to the Education Board for the same with as little delay as possible." The motion was seconded by Mr Torr and carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr Twigg, seconded by Mr Tuxford, it was resolved, " That the chairman be requested to take the necessary steps to h,ave a qualified master appointed to the Petane school as soon as possible." On the motion of Mr Stephen, seconded by Mr M'Kenzie, the Revs. D. Sidey and R. Fraser were nominated for election to the Education Board. Several other gentlemen were considered by different members of the committee to be highly eligible for nomination, but their written assurance of willingness to serve not having been secured, the nominations fell through. WAIPAWA. (By Telegraph.) At the meeting of the Waipawa School Committee last Tuesday, Mr Bibby was elected chairman for the current year, and Mr Coward secretary. Lieutenant-Colonel Lambert and Mr R. Harding were nominated for election to the Education Board. It was resolved that application be made to the Education Board for the extension of the boundaries of the school district so as to take in Richmond Park and Waipawa Bush. It was also resolved that application, be made for additional school accommodation.
