We hear, on authority, that the Marine Surveyor has been ordered to select a site for the Port Ahuriri bridge. This looks as if, in spite of wars and rumors of wars, the Government had considerable confidence in the successful floating of the loan. It is strange, indeed, hoy: well colonial securities have kept up of late. The same despatch — that of February 4th, that told us that the Russians were within fifty miles of Constantinople — told us that New Zealand fives had reached 1064, a figure which, we believe, they have never reached before.
