EXPECTED ARRIVALS.

Kiwi, s.s., from Wellington Southern Cross, s.s., from Auckland Wanaka. s.s., from Auckland,. Tauranga and Poverty Bay Star of the South, s.s., from Aiickland Sir Donald, s.s., from Wellington Go-Ahead. s.s., from Axickland and Poverty Bay Jane Douglas, s.s., from Poverty Bay

The Bangatira weighed anchor and steamed for Wellington at 8 p.m. on Monday. She will make one more trip to this port before she is laid up for alterations. We have not yet heard ■what boat is to take her place during the time she is laid up, but we hope that it may be as popular a passenger boat as the Rangatira. The schooner Orpheus, in ballast, sailed for Mercury Bay at 8 a.m. yesterday. The schooner Albatross has cleared at the Customs for Whanganoua and will leave at the earliest opportunity. The s.s. Kiwi was telegraphed to the Spit, yesterday, as having left Castle Point at 1 p.m. She should therefore arrive here at about 2 o'clock this morning. The pilot intends bringing her inside immediately upon her arrival, and she will commence discharging cargo at 10 o'clock. We learn that the s. s. Jane Douglas has been chartered for a fortnight or so to convey a quantity of sheep and cattle from Poverty Bay to Auckland. The s.s.' Result brought ashore a load of coals from the Silver Cloud, yesterday, which she discharged during the afternoon. The s.s. Southern Cross left Auckland for this port at 3.30 p.m. on Monday, and should consequently make her appearance in Napier roadstead at 6 p.m. this evening. She has a cargo of fifty tons of general goods. She is announced in our advertising columns to steam for , Wellington on or about tomorrow. The present ferry service at the Spit is shortlyto besuperseded by steam service. This will, no doubt, be felt to be a great public convenience, the boat service in time gone by was found to be insufficient for the requirements of travellers. There is to be a steam launch running at the heads every half -hour through the day ; if required, to carry 20 passengers ; for the convenience of drovers a punt is to be provided, capable of holding a dray and team of bullocks, which, when used, is to be towed across by the launch.
