THE WOOL MARKET.

There is little or no recent business to report in this market, transactions being almost entirely suspended by the near approach of the auctions ; accounts from the manufacturing districts sire dull, as might be expected in the present state of Exiropean politics. The sale at Antwerp of about 26,000 bales of South American wool will close on the oth inst. ; a decline in price having been established about on a parallel with a reduction of 6 per cent, from London March prices for Colonial wools, sellers there appear to have continued offering large quantities each day, hampered, however, with limits which have resulted in only a small proportion being aold. The Committee of Wool Importers held a meeting on the 23rd instant, when the following resolution was adopted, viz : — That the second series for wool sales for 1877 should commence on Tuesday, Bth May, and that (in pursuance of the rule adopted by the committee on the 30th January last, that the second series of sales should comprise about 300,000 bales) Avhen that quantity had arrived the list of ship's cargoes entitled to admission into the series shall be closed. The wool, therefore, of any ships arriving after that period will not be admitted; but the cargoes of all vessels arriving on the day when the list is to be made up will be admitted into the second series. The quantity arrived to-day having turned the soale, the list has been closed, and the quantities of new wool arriA r ed in time for the sale will stand as follows : — Bales. Mr Miller's sale of pure-bred Lincoln rams yesterday realised very satisfactory prices. The following were the purchasers : — Mr G. Hnnter. 5 at £15, 1 at £36, 1 at £37 10s, 1 at £35, and 1 at £39 ; Mr A. M'Lean, 1 at £40, lat £52 10s ; Mr W. Douglas, lat £42.
