THE SEATING PERFORMANCE,
Sir, — I went to the skating performance at tlxe Oddfellows' Hall last night, expect- , - ing from theadvertisement in the Heraxd •! to get admission into the hall for one shilling, but was stopped at the door and W told that I must pay two sliillizigs, or go into tlxe gallery. The advertisement dis--tinctly states that the admission is one" shilling, and the use of skates one shilling per hour. Now, it is not possible to skate in tlxe gallery, so tlxe advertisement is clearly calculated to deceive, as you cannot get admittance to the floor of the hall without paying two shillings and then one shilling for skates. I should not trouble you with tlxis, but on questioning the charge of two shillings I was insulted by tlxe proprietor, who resented my questioning his prices, which I feel I was perfectly entitled to do from the advertisement. IV feel sure that such conduct will keep many • away who would like to see the skating performance. — lam, &c, W. Mayo June 12, 1877.
