VOLUNTEER FIRING.

TRADESMEN'S PRIZES. The firing for the above by the Napier Artillery Company took place yesterday morning, at the Tutaekuri range, at 7 o'clock. The weather was all that could be desired. There were 30 competitors, and the firing was not completed till 10 o'clock. The shooting was very good considering the number that took part in it. Gunner Ross, as will be seen by the score, took first prize, with a score of 34 points, 4 over centres, and Gunner Sturm the last (tin plate and spoon). The ranges were 200 and 400 yards, five shots at each range, any position. The following were the prize-takers, the prizes taken, and the names of the prize donors : — lst (Ross), silver cup, Boylan it Co. ; case wine, Manoy and Co. 2nd (G. Nineteen prizes were set apart for the Cadets, and will be fired for to-morrow, at the Tutaekuri range, at 2 p.m.
