"CONRAD AND LISETTE."

Theke was a good attendance last night at the Oddfellows' Hall to witness the representation of Messrs Baker and Farron's drama, ".Conrad and Lisette." The piece has but a slender plot. Evidently enough it is a mere vehicle for the display of the peculiar talents of the two prominent actors— Mr Baker and Mr Farron. There is a "Lucy Fuller" (Miss L. Lawrence), who is persecuted by " George Raulton" (Mr Reed). " Lucy Fuller " goes through several tribulations, and owes her resciie to "Conrad" (Mr Baker). There are besides some nine or ten other characters, all of them of veiy minor importance, except perhaps that of f< Border Dick," which was well sustained by Mr Sweeney. Miss L. Lawrence and Mr Reed both acquitted themselves very creditably. Mr Bakei''s " Conrad" was a most excellent impersonation of a Yankee Dutchman. His acting had also the high merit of being natural, without any straining whatever at effect. His dancing is exceedingly good, and there is a rich vein of comicality in his singing very pleasing to an audience desirous of being amused. Mr Farron's " Lisette" is almost indescribable. It is a unique performance. He plays the jjartj and sings the songs pertaining to it, so as almost to leave the audience in doubt as to whether the actor is not after all a veritable woman. His dancing, too, is highly graceful. He sang with Mr Baker several duets, amidst great applause, the best of them, probably, being the "Knocking on dot Outside Gate." Mr Farron's impersonation of "Tim Flaherty" is the best portraiture of an Irishman we have seen for a long time, and certainly it is the most mirthprovoking of any representation of the kind we have had in Napier. From his first appearance on the stage until he left, " Tim" kept the house in a continual roar of laughter. The piece will be repeated this evening.
