THE VALUATION QUESTION.

Sir, — Your correspondent "M." has, I 1 see, made another calculation on the results of 700 sheep to 1000 acres, and < brings the profits to about the same tiling < as in his previous letter. There is a very | important omission yet Avhich I should ; like to see explained. Calculating the value of the 1000 acres '. at £2 per acre, and the interest upon that amount at 8 per cent., it will be found, according to my friend's calculations, that there is an absolute loss of about £50 per thousand. Surely something must be charged for interest on rent of the land. lam sure that if " M. " were to try again at 1000 sheep instead of 700, making the expenses of management, &c. , about half his quotations, the wool at l^d advance upon his last list, and something additional on the value of his increase, he would be nearer the mark. It is well known that the profits are very much larger than he has represented. — I am, &c., N. April 2G, 1877.
