The s.s. Pretty Jane left Auckland on Tuesday, the 10th, at 8 p.m., arrived at Tauranga at o p.m. on Wednesday ; left at 6 p.m. and arrived at Gisborne at 6 a.m. on Friday. She left Gisborne for this port at 6.30 a.m. on Thursday, and arrived here on Saturday evening. She experienced from Auckland to East Cape moderate weather ; when oft' East Cape a strong southerly breeze sprang up, which lasted up till her arrival in Gisborne. From Gisborne to Napier the weather was fine, and the winds light. She has a few tons of general cargo. The p.s. Manaia left at 6 p.m. on Saturday for Wairoa. According to latest telegrams the bar is still ha a very unsatisfactory state. The schooner Hinemoa arrived from Hokianga on Saturday evening. She left there on the Ist inst., with a light S.E. breeze. She rounded North Cape on the 2nd, with the wind blowing lightly from the E.S.E. The wind kept in this quarter till the 6th, when she passed the Great Barrier Island. She passed East Cape on the 7th, the wind blowing strongly from the north. On the Bth, she being then off the Mahia Peninsula, the wind suddenly chopped round to the westward and blew a gale. She was hove to for three days, and was driven back for some considerable distance. On the 12th the wind moderated, and went round to the South East, sail was once more made, and she arrived in port as above. She sighted on the 12th two fore and aft schooners, but they were not near enough to be distinguished. The s.s. Kiwi left Wellington on Saturday at 1 p.m., for this port. She calls at Castle Point oh the way up, and will probably arrive here this morning.
