We have to remind our readers that now is the time for them to get their names placed on the Electoral Roll — now, and until the end of March. We had thought it the less necessary of late to dwell on this subject, as, under the present Electoral Acts, the House of Representatives Roll is made up from the Burgess and Road Board Rolls, and all or nearly all qualified as voters, were put on the former without any action of their own in the matter. This however, is all altered now. Last year the Burgess franchise was wider than the Parliamentary franchise; this year, owing to the blundering legislation of last session, it will be much narrower. No weekly or quarterly tenants will appear on the Burgess Roll, and consequently , they will not be transferred to the Elecj toral Roll. All those therefore who : have arrived here since last year's roll I was made up, or who have changed their 1 quarters in the interim must register, if j they desire to posess the Parliamentary 1 franchise. Registration forms can be had ! gratis, at the Heeald Office.
