Napier Races. — >The programme will be found in our advertising columns. Ma. Edward Lyndon will sell, tomorrow (Saturday) one ton hams and bacon, and a number of other articles. The Napier Vor,uNTEEH.. c RiFr.E Band announce their next open air concert for tho evening of Saturday next. The programme appears in another place. Soap. — We have tried in various ways a sample of soap from the newly established soap manufactory, and find it a very excellent article — quite equal in our opinion to any quality imported. Boxing Dat. — Among the amusements announced for Monday next, being Coxing Day, are races at Havelock, in connection with which Cobb and Co. have laid on a coach for the convenience of visitors from Napier. There is a cricket match between town and country, as announced in last Herald ; the treat at Father Reignier's for the school children ; and the picnic in Sturm's gully, under the auspices of the Artillery Band. The programme of sports at the picnic appears in another column, and presents many attractions. A statement in our contemporary, last evening, that the idea of a picnic had been abandoned, is, we are requested to say, not correct. The bread and butter ball in the evening, under the auspices of the Napier Rifle Volunteers, will appropriately bring to a close the Christmas holidays. There will also, we perceive, be a scratch rifle match ; sides to be chosen at 9 a.m.
