AUCKLAND LITE STOCK MABKET.

MB. ALFRED BUCKXAND'S REPORT. (For the week ending Dec. 16.) During the past week stock have offered in excess of requirements, and the tendency of the market is tp lower- values. At the Haymarket on Saturday, there was an enquiry for horse stock at low values, and many were sold at prices varying between £3 ajul £8, but the low prices ruling prevent first-class animals from being brought forward. . At Mr. Kunoiman's sale on. Wednesday there was a large attendance, and for the implements good competition and satisfactory prices were obtftined. Choice dairy cattle and grown steers, three-fourths fat, were freely competed for at full rates, but aged cattle were at low values ; best cows brought from £9 to £14 each. At Kemuera, on Thursday, dairy cows and young cattle were very dull of eale, and many were withdrawn, Well-bred grazing steers, from two to three years old, were in request, and were the only clbbs that maintained previous values. Large coarse cattle were very low in price. Fat cattle were offered in large numbers ; a few choice animals only maintained last week's prices. 132 were sold to the consumer. Weaned calves brought from 25s to 355 ; yearlings, 50s to 70n ; cows, near calving, from £5 10s to £8 10s ; dry cows, from £2 10s to £6; coarse-bred ateers, in condition, four yeara old, from 50s to £7 ; well-bred steers, two to two and a half years, £G 5s to £7 178 6d each. Fat cattle were- generally of very good quality. Well-bred animals, from 600 to 700 lbs. weight, brought near 308 the 100 lbs. ; large sized cattle, 25s to 27s 6d ; coarse cattle, from 17s Gil the 100 lbs. A smaller than usual supply of fat sheep met with a dull sale; prices declined about Is per head from previous week's market. Lambs were penned in much lesa numbers, but there was no change in values. Store sheep are in request at high relative rates. Fat sheep barely brought 3d the lb. ; average lambs Ga to 8s; best lambs, 10s to 14s each; store half-bred hoggetts, mixed sexes, 7s to 6s 3d each. Pigs were in limited numbers, and met with a free sale. MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT. Horses.— There has been a continuous improvement both as to the number offered and the vitality of demand. At auction, on Saturday, large numbers of sales were ejected, but considerable inconvenience was experienced through horses not taking the trials warranted, but above the average number of sales were effected. Hacks and light harness horses are ia demand for shipment, hut at low figures, and for better stamp thau the mujority offeriug were sold. Hacks, from £(J 2s Gd to £9 j five year old light draught horsas, from £15 5a to £20 10s each.— Cattle. There was a moderate muster of all descriptions, hut sales were slow and difficult to effeot. Dairy cows were of inferior description, and sales limited. Store stock were in better demand, and a few pens of really well bred were well competed for, and advanced a shade in price, but there was little improvement in coarse weedy animals For well fatted beasts the demand was good at 30s per 100 lbs., but those in low condition were most difficult to dispose of. Several pens ex St. Kilda were withdrawn, but afterwards disposed of privately. Dairy cows sold from £7 10s to £8 15s ; yearlings from £2 10a to £3 ; two-year-old steers from £4 to £.5 each. — Sheep continue in limited supply, with hut little alteration in value. Good fat sheep sell freely at full rates, but inferior rule lower, Low priced store sheep are in demand. Lambs were not so pleutiful as the previous week, with no alteration in value worthy of note. Halfbreds sold from Us to 17s 6d ; lambs from 6s to 8s each. — Pigs in short supply, with a little improvement in price.
