'"": " ' rfiENDERS will be received at the GenX eral Post Office, Wellington, till the 15th January, 1871, for the performance of' the undermentioned Monthly Stam Mail Services, for a period of One Year from the 15th February next, determinate onthree months' notice being given on either side. No. 1. — From Manakau to New Plymouth, calling at Raglan and Waitara, and back by the same route. No. 2.— From Opunake to Patea, Wanganui, Rangitikei, Manawatu, and Wellington, and back by the same route. No. 3.— From Auckland to Tauranga and Opotiki, and back by the same route. No. 4. — From Napier to Turanganui and Hicks' Bay, calling at Wairoa, weather permitting, and back by the same route. The service to be so arranged that each port mentioned shall be visited twice Monthly. The names, tonnage, and horse-power of the vessels to be employed in these services to be stated, and the vessel to be approved by the Postmaster-General, and subject to be surveyed by some person appointed by him, whenever he may consider it necessary. About 25 miles of bush require to be felled 1 chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Work will bo let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as hereinafter described, viz. : — No. I—From1 — From the entrance of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makotoku stream, about 2£ miles. No. 2. — From Makotoku stream to Ma-ngatewai-iti, about 2 miles. No. 3 — Mangatewai-eti to Mangatera, about 2£ miles. No. 4. — From Mangatera to Tahoraiti, about 3 miles. No. 5. — From Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about l£ miles. No. 6. — From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles more or less. No. 7. — 2 miles more or less from No. 6 Contract towards Manawatu Gorge. No. 8. — 2 miles more or less from No. 7 Contract towards Manawatu Gorge. No. 9. — 2 miles more or less from No. 8 Contract. Exact limits of Contracts (Nos. 6 and 9 inclusive) will be fixed after survey. Tenders to state distinctly the portion of line, as described by number, for which the tender is intended. Tenders to state the rate at per chain.
