Sebious Complaints against Seamen. — One or two rather serious complaints were made this morning about the behaviour of some of the Challenger's sailors last night. Mr. A. C. P. M'Donald, of the Colonial Secretary's Office, foutid a sailor lying down in the porch of his house about half-past 10, apparently drunk. Mr. M'Donald desired him to rempve, and, as he paid no attention to the request, proceeded to pull him out. Once outside, the sailor suddenly sprung up, and struck Mr. M'Douald a severe blow in the face, which knocked him down. He then seized him by the throat, and hold him down until he was nearly suffocated, and' it was with the utmost difficulty that he got away. Two men were passing" at the time, androfused to render any assistance, saying they might " fight it out." Mr. M'Donald's face and throat bear marks of severe handling he received, and his family were dreadfully alarmed at the occurrence. I — Another party of two or three threw i stones through the windows of Mr Pilcher's | house, next door to the Express Hotel, ] Cuba-street, breaking various articles of i' furniture, and doing about £10 worth of r damage. — Evening J?Qst> April 21.
