RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Wednesday, Apbiii 27. (Beforo J. A. Smith, Esq., J. P., andJ. Wilkinson, Esq., i.V.) CIVIL CASES. Brown v. Wilson. — This was an adjourned case. The plaintiff sought to recover from the defendant a certain document, being an acknowledgment of a debt amounting to £10 53., or the value thereof. It appeared from the evidence that the plaintiff bad entrusted the document in question in the hands of the defendant, who had received funds to liquidate the debts of one .Robert Iliddell, by whom the document was signed. The defendant, not having paid plaintiff's claim, was requested to return the acknowledgment, which he refused to do. The defendant contended that the plaintiff had no right to the document, and that it was worthless. The Bench decided that the acknowledgment was the property of the plaintiff, and must be given up to him, or defendant to pay the amount, with costs 19s.
