NATIVE INTELLIGENCE.
By telegraph we hear that the Star of the South is at Castle Point, windbound. She has on board Topia, Kemp, and 362 Wanganui natives. Also 31 prisoners, being the worst of the meu captured by Ropata aud Kemp in the late success over Te Kooti at Maraetai. We understand preparations are beiug made at Wellington for the safe custody of the prisoners, who will probably be brought to trial there. The Star of the South spoke the Rangatira off Cape Kidnappers. The Hon. the Defence Minister was at Opotiki when the Star left, and was uot expected to leave for Aucklaud until the 12th instant. By the Rangatira, vow hourly expected, we shall receive further particulars. The Star of the South returns from Wellington to Napier, unless chartered by the Colonial Government.
