Arrival of p.s. Sturt.

Thb Colonial gunboat Sturt, Fairohild commander, left Auckland last Saturday week at 7 p.n.., with stores, ammunition, &0., for the several military depots along the coast, having also Major Ropata on board, called at Kennedy's Bay on Sunday morning, and embarked 25 fighting men of the N gatiporoua ; the same night called at Tauranga, landed store?, and left again at midnight. Next day (Monday), called at Matato, Whakatane, and Ohewa, landing stores and ammunition for the use of the Whanganui natives. On Tuesday called afc Hicks' Bay, Eawa Kawa, Horoera, Waiapu, and Awanui, and embarked natives at each place. On Wednesday communicated witb Tuparoa, Matahan, Mawai, Ansuru, and Tologa Bay, landed stores at each, On Thursday landed 300 fighting Ngatiporous, under Major Hop at a, at Poverty Bay. Left there at 1 p.m. last Thursday for Napier, and arrived at daylight on Friday, Fine weather experienced the whole way. Capt. Fairchild reports H.M. 8.8, Challenger and Rosario as lying at Tauranga ; also the Murewai, schooner, as being at Poverty Bay.
