AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.

(Reports for week ending January 28.) MR. AIiPXIED BUCKLAND, At the Hay market, on Saturday last,- a less number of horses than usual were brought forward. There was no alteration in values, A superior draught horse brought £35 ; aged draught stock, from £10 10a. ; common hacks, 60s. to £10 10a. each j li^ht harness horses, from £8 to £lo ; unbroken stock, three and four years old — a light class — from £5 each. At the Remueia yards, on Thursday, dairy oowh brought from £10 lO.s. to £14 2a. 6-1.; well-bred heifers, forward in call', £9 to £10 lOti. A large uumber of weaned oulves and yearlings met with a steady demand at improved prices. Good en! vug, neven to ten months old, brought from 70s. to 90s. each ; yearlings, about £5 each, A full market of . fat cftttlu (95 head sold) met will) a dull tale, but for Auckland-fatted cattle there was no

The greater part of those penned remained unsold, and, with tho ex: ception of a few choice pens, prices obtained were lower than ruled last week. Lambs were brought forward in less than usual numbers, and prices realised 2a. per head above last week's rates. Pigs were . in moderate supply, and in request at late values. CAEEY, GIM/ES, HUNTER, AND CO. . The horse market has continued brisk during the last week, and most descriptions of horses of at all a good stamp have advanced a little in price. An unusually large number were disposed of at auction at the Durham Yards, on Saturday, at generally satisfactory rales to the vendors. First-class heavy draught we were unable to place, vendors requiring more than market price. We sold hacka from £8 to £11 • light draught horses, £14 to £25. Some unbroken light draught stock, from Wangaoui, £15 103^ to £24 10s. Horned cattle have receded a little in price this werk ; store stock being the least affeoted. A large number of dairy cows were brought forward at the Ju action Yards on Tuesday, but mostly of a second-rate quality, really good animals being io. request. We found difficulty in quitting the numbers penned. Store stock were a shade easier, but Bold freely ; above an average number changed bands. Tbere was a slight decline in the price of beef, attributable to the trade being well supplied and indisposed to purchase 'any but really prime animals, which command ready sale at high figures. . , ;. „ Sheep are plentiful, and prices have steadily declined from 2s to Is per bead, which we anticipate will be of temporary duration as stocks are low, but the weather being so warm makes butchers disincl.ned to buy largely. Lambs are getting out of season, and vendors have to submit to a lower rate, which, considering the size of the animals, they are unwilling to subniitto -consequently, sales are difficult to eifect, Pigs have offered in larger numbers than of late, and. Bold readily at full rates. The following is a list of prices :— Dairy cows sold from £11 2s. 6d. to £14 ; calves, from £2 10s. to £3 10s ; yearlings, from £4 to £4 15s ; two year-old steers, from £6 7s. Bd. to A' 7 12s. 6d. ; beef, from 32a. 6d. to 365. per 10<>lb. Sheep : Half-brata from 10s. 9d. to 18s ; merino wethers, from 7s. to 12a. ; lambs, from 7s. 6d. to 1 1 8. each. At the North Shore on Wednesday, a limited number of stock were penned, but buyers were in attendance, and prices advanced some 5s per head on the price ruling on this side of the water.
