Free Handicap — Miss Flat, 1; Lyndon/ 2; Mousetrap, 3. . .... . , All the events were won with hands down. Wednesday, Jan. 19. The races this! day were ' largely! attended. The competition was close in most events. . . ' ■ ' ':. Hurdle Race— Don Pedro, 1 ; Star, of' the South, 2; Centurion, 3. Derby Stakes: —Malabar, 1 ; Water Witch, 2. Jockey Club Handicap —Knottingly, 1 ; Magenta, 2; Foretop, 3. Criterion Stakes-^-Ata'-lanta, 1 ; Economy, 2 ; Flying Jib, "3. Grand Stand Handicap— Dead heat between Miss Flat and Wild Boy. Mr. Delemaine declared to win on the former; ~ ■ ' Admiral Hornby and the principal officers of the Flying Squadron will attend the races to-morrow. Thursday, January 20. To-day, for the Christchurch Plate, Knottingly was 'first, Peeress 'second/. Atalanta third. ."'... \ .f "'" For the Railway Stakes Lyndon jiss^ first. A dead heat between Miss' Flat and: Economy for second place. /'' •■■■■>.■,.■ For the Metropolitan Handicap, Peeress was first, Foretop second, Atlas third. For the Selling Stakes Misfortune first Madras second, Wildboy third. The Consolation was won by Wildboy. Four thousand persons visited the Flying Squadron to-day. It leaves for Wellington on Saturday morning.
