PROJECTED DEPASTURES.

Three Brothers, schooner, for Wairoa, early ' Tawera, schooner, for Poverty Bay, (wait- i . ing opportunity) Mahia, cutter, for Wairoa, early

18tb, with strong N.E. wind ; passed East Cape at 6 p.m. on the 19th ; from thence experienced fine weather and heavy N.E; swell ; dropped anohor in the Ahuriri roadstead at 10 a.m. yesterday morning, after a very boisterous passage. She left again yesterday at 3 p.m. for Wellington and Southern ports, canying Napier English mail.

It will be seen from observations taken, that the wind during the last week kept at, N.E. by E. without varying, and it travelled at the rate of 2432 miles for the same time. The Auokland buoy was observed to be adrift last Saturday ; it drifted towards the mouth of the inner harbor. The pilot and crew had a great deal of trouble in getting it, owing to the high sea running at the time. The buoy was covered with barnacles and eea weed. It is the intention of the pilot to thoroughly examine the bar to-day. It is his impression that this late bad weather. haß altered the passage. The schooner Hero left this port last Wednesday in tow of the gunboat Sturt ; called at Mohaka at 10 a,m., and left at 11 a.m. ; arrived at Wairoa at 12-30 on same day, and entered the river, when the Sturt cast her off; discharged cargo, and took in wool and maize, and left on Sunday at 6*30 a.m., with strong N.E. by E. winds ; arrived at Napier at 11 same day, and entered the Iron Pot at onoe. The Captain reports having seen the Star of the South off Waka, Mahia, at anchor. A great deal of wool wag observed on the beach, supposed to belong to Messrs. Watt Bros., ready for shipment. The Star had shipped Messrs. Burton and Thorpe's wool, j and had on board part of Messrs. Watts ; but owing to the boisterous north-easterly weather, shipment had to be discontinued till a more favorable opportunity. The Wairoa bar is also reported to be favorable for shipping, haying 8 feet at half tide. The fine schooner Tawera will leave this port for Poverty Bay the first favorable opportunity. The Star of the South, from Mahia, arrived late last evening. The fine s.B. Phoebe arrived at the Bluff on the 19 th inst. from Dunedin. The N.Z.S.N. Co.'s s.s.
