The subscription for a public iestimohial is' being well taken up considering the dep«Bßße'd'tiines.: " i ' vw -'- •";■•'""■;.;_!•"■'"''' ■News has come by special messe&ger that the survey of Manawatu has been Stopped. The surveyors really did not attempt to survey it, but declined to do any thing without further orders on being told that they ■would be prevented. The reason given by the natives was that, while they admitted the sale, they objected to some of the reserves awarded by the Court. Unfortunately the Wanganui line is down. As this act of the natives is at the instigation of Europeans, the Disturbed Districts Act' will probably be proclaimed for the speoial purpose of bringing them to book.
