"T^rOTICE is hereby given, that I, AlexJ3I ander Cairns, of the City of Dunedin, in the Province of Otago, Inspector of Works, have made application to his Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, that ho will be pleased to grant to me, my heirs and assigns, the exclusive use of Letters Patent of an invention for "Improvements in travelling, overland, ravines, slopes of mountains, surfs and inlets of the sea, or otherwise across inaccessible parts of both land and water." All persons who may wish to prefer objections to tho granting of such Letters Patent are requested to send, within four months of tho publication of this notice, to the office of John Boyle Bennett, Esq., Wellington, tho officer appointed for that purpose, with whom lie all documents thereanent, a statement in writing setting forth the grounds of such objection, subscribed with his proper name and address.
