OPENING UP THE TAUPO ROAD.

[ Towards the prosecution of this work, one which is likely powerfully to affect the future of the Northern Island, further steps have been taken. Mr. Ross, the Provincial Engineer, has left town to lay off a dray road between Pohui and Te Haroto ; and at the latter, as we lately mentioned, a working party has commenced, or is about to commence, operations. Mr. Bold is engaged in laying off the road further on — between Haroto and Runanga — and it is understood that, immediately on the cessation of fighting, the Taupo friendlies will be employed on one , or other of the road parties.
