I HEREBY give notice that tho district hereinafter described and situated in the Province of Hawke's Bay, lying within the followiug boundary: — The sea coast from the mouth of the river Esk or Waiohinganga to the mouth of the river Waikari ; thence the said river Waikari to a point distant nine miles in a direct line from its mouth ; thence a straight line drawn north west, true bearing, till it intersects the northern boundary of the Province ; thence the said northern boundary to its western extremity; thence the western boundary of the said Province to its intersection with the river Mohaka ; thence down tho said river to its intersection with the Titiokura path from Taupo to Ahuriri ; thence the said Titiokura path to the said River Esk or Waiohinganga ; thence the said river Esk to its mouth, is brought under the operation of Clause 4 of the " Public Houses Act, 1868," and that any fermented or spirituous liquors imported into that district without a permit will be forfeited to her Majesty. The N.Z,S.N. Co.'s s.s. Wellington may be expected about Sunday next from Wellington and the south. The C.S.S.N. Oo.'s s.s. Lord Ashley may be expected to again visit this port shortly. The Colonial Government gunboat St. Eilda is undergoing a thorough overhaul in Wellington. All hands have been paid off, and wo hear that Captain Fox has been put in command of the Edith surveying schooner. The weather lately has been most boisterous, blowing a perfect gale Outside, bringing in large unwelcome seas, causing a break all over the inner bay. It is well no vessel makes her appearanoe, for it would be impossible to go out to her assistance as the weather is at present. The Wellington, steamer, arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday, The Lord Ashley, steamer, arrived at Wellington from Lyttelton yesterday morning, The R. T. Turnbull, barque, from London for this port, was spoken on the 28th July in lat. 13 N., long. 25 W. She is now 107 days out, and, taking for granted that she. takes tho Cook's Straits route, may be expected to be within the influence of the prevailing gale, which ought soon to bring her up to her destination. The s.s. Star of the South steamed for Auckland last Thursday, and will no doubt have made an excellent passage, getting the benefit of the southerly winds.
