The English Mail.— Mr. Bourke, the chief postmaster, has kindly given us the following information with regard to the departure of the English mail. The mail will leave Wellington on Monday, the Ist November ; and the Lord Ashley, with the Auckland portion, will leave the , Manukau on the 28th inst. At present it is doubtful whether any steamer from here direct will reach Wellington in time, that is, prior to the Ist, and the Hawke's Bay bags will therefore be despatched via Auckland, to be forwarded thence on the 28th. It is expected that the Rangatira will be here in a day or two, en route to Auckland ; she was expected in Wellington yesterday, and would be despatched immediately. By this opportunity, as the only absolutely certain one, Mr. Bourke will forward all letters and papers posted prior to her departure. There remain two more chances — the Wellington, advertised to leave here for Auckland on the 2oth, and the Rangatira, on her return trip to Wellington ; but there is some degree of uncertainty whether either will be up to time, and it is safest perhaps to post at once. It is really a wretched state of things.
