Commercial. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.

I Reports for week ending October 9._ ME. ALFRED BUCKLAND. At the Haymarket on Saturday last, horse stock were dull of sale. Pressed Australian hay brought 6s. 6d. • oaten hay, 7s. Gd. the owt. At the Triangle on Tuesday, there was a very numerous attendance, and several pens of choice store cattle. Prioes ruled higher than on the previous Thursday. At Papakura, on Wednesday, there was a larger muster of store cattle than at any previous sale; the attendance was very good, and prices obtained were fully equal to those ruling at Remuera. Dairy cows and wellbred heifers in oalf were in particular request ; they brought from £9 to £13 10s. ; two-year-old steers, £7 to £7 12s. 6d. ; yearlings, £4 10s. to £6 10s. ; oalves, from £3 eaoh ; 183 head were sold. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy stook continued in request ; good cows brought freely from £13 to £14 10s. eaoh. A very full market of young store cattle met with a steady demand at late rates, Grown steers were a little lower in prioe; more fat oattle were penned than usual, and they were of very good quality. At the beginning of the sale prioes were lower than last week, but rallied as the sale proceeded. Ship-borne cattle brought from 355. to 375. 6d. ; Auokland fatted from 365. to 455. the lOOlbs. Those ex Tauranga, from Poverty Bay, averaged £17 ; ex Charles Edwards, £11 Bs. ; ex Stormbird, £13 13s. each ; 124 fat cattle were spld. Rather a small market of fat sheep barely maintained last week's rates. Lambs sold freely, and prices lnoreased towards the end of tbe sale ; they brought from Bs. 6d . to 19s. each. The pigs ex Charles Edwards and Stormbird were eagerly competed for, and all sold at extreme rates. WM. HUNTER AND CO. The horse, market during the past week has been tolerably aotive, and a considerable number have been disposed of at about late rates. Saturday's market was numerically well supplied, and on the whole prices were satisfactory to sellers, and the number of sales was above the average, Haoks sold from! £7 15s. to £10 17s. 6d. ; light draught horses from £16 10s. to £19 eaoh. Gd. to £13 65. ; oalves, from &2 17s. 6d. to £3 10s. ; lj-year-old steers, from £5 6s. to £5 12s. 6d. ; 2-year-old steers, from £6 128, 6d. to £7 2s. 6d. ; %ear-old steers, from £8 10s. to £9 17s. 6d. ; working bullocks, £11 6s. each. Beef from 40s. to 425. Gd. per 1001 b. At Otahuhu, on Tuesday, there was a moderate supply of oattle, whioh sold readily. At Papakura, on Wednesday, there was an unusually large muster of cattle, and prioes ruled fully high as at Newmarket, rr MESSES. CAREY AND GILLIES. The markets have been fairly supplied with fat oattle during the week, and those of superior quality met with free competition, SBlling at 40s to 43s per 1001 b., medium oattle realising about 38s per 1001 b. Fat sheep were penned in abundant numbers, and sold at an advanoe of 2s to 2s 6d per head upon late sales. Young cattle and store stook were numerous, but did not command the very high prices realised at late markets. Veal calves and lambs sold ai high value. On Wednesday, at the Junction Yards, we obtained the following prices :— -Fat oattle, provinoial, were sold at £15 2s 6d to £18 12 6d eaoh, or 40s to 43s per lOOib.; fat oattle, Napier, realised £11 to £13 17s 6d, or 38s to 40s per 1001 b. Fat sheep : We sold a very large number as follow : ex Keera, from Wanganui, 14s to 21s each ; ex Star pf the South, from Napier, 15s. to 18s 6d, Store Sheep : Good Wanganui stores realised 10s to 13s 3d ea«h. Store oattle : Full grown steers £8 lfis to £9 15s ; calves, 25a to 43s eaoh ; lambs we quitted at lis to 14s 6d.
