THE ENGLISH MAIL.

An English mail was despatched yesterday by the s.s. Wellington, and some indignation was felt and expressed that the arrangements of the postal service should be such as to demand the despatch of the Hawke's Bay portion of the mail a fortnight before the time of the departure of the mail steamer from Wellington. We believe, however, that other opportunities of writing by the ensuing mail are yet available to the Napier public First, by the overland mail which leaves Napier on the 24th inst. at 7 a.m., and arrives in Wellington on the evening of the 29th. Of course this opportunity will be for letters only. Second, by the Bangatira steamer, which, we are informed, weather permitting, will leave Auckland on the Ist prox., and Napier on the 3rd. It is, of course, somewhat doubtful, whether she will arrive in time, although she probably will. Third, we : learn that the Government will use every exertion to send the St. Kilda back to Wellington in time.
