PROJECTED DEPARTURES.

Rangatira, s.s,, for Wellington Maggie, brig, for Newoastle, N.S.W., feady Star of the South, s.s., for Auckland, on discharge of cargo Mahia, cutter, for Wairoa The s.s. Wellington left Port Chalmers on the Bth at 5 p.m., and had fine weather to Lyttelton, where she arrived on the 9th. Left for Wellington at 7 p.m. same day, experiencing fresh N.W. winds on the passage, and arriving at that port on the 10th. Left Wellington at 5.30 p.m. on the 11th, meeting with a strong southerly breeze and heavy sea, and arrived in Napier roadstead at noon on Sunday last. Enquiry has been made of the pilot here in reference to a fore-and-aft schooner called the Nora, which left Lyttelton for Napier on the 26th June last. Nothing has been heard of the ill-fated vessel since her departure, and it is feared she has foundered at sea with all on board. The cutter Planet, with a oargo of oats consigned to Mr. Vautier, left Dunedin at 11 a.m. on the 31st August, with a light southerly wind ; rounded Banks' Peninsula on the 3rd instant, and on the sth had strong N.W. winds, with heavy sea running. On the 6th, the wind S.S.W., squally wittf rain ; was off Cape Palliser the same night, Thence had N.W. winds till off FJat Point, on Tuesday. Was abreast of Cape Turnagain on Wednesday, the wind N.N.E., and thence had light northerly winds till arrival in the roadstead at 9 a.m. on Friday last. The B.s. Tarai-ua, Caprain Hagley, arrived at the Bluff on the 29th ult., from Melbourne. This fine vessel, on this occasion, eclipsed all her previous passages from Melbourne to the Bluff, having accomplished the distance in the short space of 4 days, 8 hours, and some minutes. H.M.S.S. Rosario left Wellington at 3.40 p.m. on Wednesday last, for the East Coast. The Excelsior, hence, had arrived in London, after a long passage of 143 days. The ship R, T. Turnbull left London for Napier on the 3rd July. She comes to the consignment of Messrs. Watt Brothers, and will, after discharging, be laid on as the first wool ship of the season. The ship William Davie arrived at Port Chalmers on Thursday, after a splendid passage of 98 days from Glasgow. The William Davie has on .board a quantity of cargo for this port. The barque Abdul Medjid, 117 days from London, arrived at Nelson on Saturday last. The U.S. frigata Kearsage left Wellington for Callao on Friday last. H.M.S. Rosario was visible from Napier on Friday last, asjshe steamed up the coast. The steamers Rangatira and Star of the South may both be hourly expected to arrive from Auckland. Tho former was due yesterday, but had not arrived at a late hour last evening. She will steam southward soon after arrival. The ship Undaunted, Captain Grierson, sailed for Callao in ballast on Friday morning last.
