The rebellion in Afghanistan, headed by Ismael Khan, nephew of Ameer Kban, has been temporarily suppressed. Shere AH captured the ringleader, ppared his life, and sent him and his two brothers to Kohat. Ismael Khan, however, managed to escape on the road thither, and is now hiding somewhere in Afghanistan. Shere Ali is becoming popular. The Bombay Gazette reports as news that New Zealand had declared her independence. In the House of Lords, on July 23, the Duke of Argyle submitted the Indian Budget. A lengthy discussion ensued.
