London, August 10. New Zealand affairs have been discussed in both Houses of Parliament. In the House of Lords, the Right Rev. Lord Bishop of Lichfield (Dr. Selwyn) proposed the withdrawal of the settlers from the disturbed districts, and urged that they should receive compensation. ' : .;. A suggestion has been made to appoint a Commissioner [? Commission] to take charge of public affairs in New Zealand, if the Imperial Government persists in with- ; . holding its assistance from the colony. In the House of Commons, Mr. Monsell and Mr. Adderley attributed the present embarrassed state of the colony to the neglect of the principle of self-reliance by. the colonists, and deprecated the idea of Imperial interference.
