They are said to be very rich, and the excitement in the south is great. Satubday, August 14. Last night Mr. Stafford opposed the second reading of Mr. Wilson's resolution. He moved an amendment, which was negatived — 32 votes to 29 ; Tareha and Mete Kingi not voting. All the defence resolutions are now finally carried, unless they are embodied in a bill. Mono at, August 16. The budget discussion commences tomorrow. • Members are now beginning to leave, and no material departure from present ministerial programme considered likely. The steamer Taranaki ia now lifted 140 feet nearer in shore.
