£The" following appeared in a Heraid extra issued on Tuesday evening, but it has since been amplified and revised.] The Rangitoto, with the English mail, arrived off Hokitika at 2 p.m. on Monday, but, owing, it is supposed, to the state of the bar, the. telegrams did not reach Wellington till Tuesday afternoon. Adelaide, August 2. The, branch mail steamer Alexandra arrived from King George's Sound at 11 o'clock- this morning, having on board the mails received per R.M.S. Avoca. The following are passengers by the mail steamer: — For Melbourne — Messrs. Harrod, Moody, Docker, Alford, Hardie, Smith, Hunter, Flynne, Synner, . Tickall, Orwell, Williamson, and Mrs. Ramage.
