AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.

The markets were barely supplied with beef of good quality, and a further advance upon last week's quotations was consequently obtained, being as high as 425. per 1001 b. for primost lots, with » prospect of higher prices, aocond quality realised 375. (id. to 40s. Fat sheep were in fair supply and of good quality: the bidding throughout was very spirited, with improved Values. Dairy Cows of good quality meet with a ready sale, and continue to be in demand. Store cattle were in good supply, and sold at late quotations; Figs were in abundance and were well sold. At the Junction Yards on Wednesday, wo obtained the following prlcesi— Pat Cattlc> ex Star of the South from Napier, sold at 37s 6d to 40s per 1001 b; nrimest lots realising 425. per 1001 b. Fat Sbeep, ex Tawera, from Poverty Bay (half-breds), brought from 13s. OcL to 18s. each; Napier half-breils, 125. 9 d. to 18s. 3d. ; Merinos, good quality, 13s. to 159. 6d, average lots, 103. M. to 12s. Fat Piga, dairy-fod, fetched from £3 18s. to £4 .125. 6(1. each. A shipment from the East Coast, medium quality* 365. to C6s. each. MB. ALFBED BUCKkiAKBt'? BBPOBT. Consequent on thts wet Weather, fodder Was in short supply on Saturday last late prices were freely given; Oats brought 4s. the bushel. Un. broken draught stock, medium strength* averaged £21 each, The riding horse by " Meleager" brought £35; a buggy. £24; hacks from £3 to £8 10s. At the Remuera Yards, on Thursday, store cattle were belter worth. Best dairy cows were in request, and brought from £16 to £17 10s. ; medium cows, £11 to £13. Fat cattle were in full eupply— 91 head penned. Prices were higher than for some time, 38s. to 40s. the 1001 b. being the rule of the market. Sheep were in moderate supply. Store half-breed cows brought from Bs. 9d. to 12s. Fat sheep, about 3d. the Ib. Merino wethers, 4s. to 10s. 6d. each. Pigs were in full supply ; coarse pigs are at low value, but well-bred pigs brought about 4d. the lb.— live weight; WM. HUNTER AND CO.'S BEPOBT. Owing to the continued downpour of rain on Saturday, out a limited number of horses were brought forward* Buyers were much more numerous than we expected, and prices advanced considerably. Good dray horses met with a ready salo at an advance, other descriptions firm. The Newmarket Yards were well supplied with cattle on Monday, which met adequate demands. Dairy cows offered, were generally of inferior quality, and on the whole, prices were easier than the week previous. Store Stock firm, while fat beasts advanced about 2s. 6d. per 1001 b. For bost description middling advanced a shade. A general clearance is being quickly made, which must result in an advanced market. Skeep were iv full supply, and although there was no noteworthy change in prices, all in met with active demand Sheep from Wanganui ex Rangatira, having met with a very bad passage up, were looked upon with disfavor, but sold at from 10s. Carey and Gillies report that, on June 30, the prices obtained for beef confirm the rise reported on the 20th ult. Napier cattle were penned in fair numbers, and met with ready sale at from 38s to 42s (id per 100 lbs. Provincial of good quality, were quitted at the same rates. There was a full supply of sheep, which brought remunerative figure?. The shipment ex Rangatira, from Napier, consisting of 276 head, were all disposed of at 12s 6d to 15s Gd each.
